Why: How many sites offer PDFs, for all kinds of reasons, and also, for convenience sake, say “click here” if you don’t have Adobe Reader to view this PDF? Thousands of sites…
Bottom Line: It very much matters what link text is used when getting an inbound link that points to your site. What the link text says tells, at least heavily influences, the search engines with knowing what your site is about.
